Up one levelMesonet monitoring station now operational
Morehead State University’s Derrickson Agricultural Complex (MSU farm) is one of the sites for the new Kentucky Mesonet monitoring station. Construction of the station was done in mid-July at the farm on KY 377.

Kentucky NSF EPSCoR Funding Opportunity
KY NSF EPSCoR is announcing a new honors program aimed at increasing the number of underrepresented students in the program—the Kentucky NSF EPSCoR Research Scholars Program (RSP). The program seeks to support the research involvement of outstanding students who are underrepresented in science majors. Women, racial/ethnic minoritiesi, the disabled, and students from Appalachian Kentucky countiesii may participate. Students enrolled at any Kentucky post-secondary institution are eligible to apply.
Han receives KAS Grant
MOREHEAD, Ky.---Dr. Daikwon Han, assistant professor of geography with Morehead State University’s Institute for Regional Analysis and Public Policy (IRAPP), is the recipient of the 2007 Special Research Award by the Kentucky Academy of Science.

Morehead, KY. -Jan 29, 2007- Dr. Tim Hare, Assistant Professor of Anthropology for the Institute for Regional Analysis and Public Policy (IRAPP), at Morehead State University, has been honored in the January 2007 issue of Choice Magazine published by the Association of College and Research Libraries for his chapter titled, Postclassic Maya Society Regenerated at Mayapán in the textbook After Collapse: The Regeneration of Complex Societies.

COS Student Travel Grants Available
The Association of American Geographers (AAG) International Geographic Information Fund (IGIF) offers Student Travel Grants for the support of student travel to national and international symposia or specialized meetings sponsored by recognized professional organizations supporting activities associated with specific aspects of geographic data analysis and handling and geographic information systems. The program is designed to support college and university student career development in the academic areas of applied spatial data analysis or geographic information systems (GIS).
