Director, Environmental Education Center
Ms. Haight has been actively involved with environmental education efforts on campus since she was president of the Environmental Science Club as an undergraduate student, and has continued efforts to promote environmental education in her professional positions and volunteer activities. Before becoming the Director of MSU Environmental Education Center, Ms. Haight served the University for 12 years in facilities management as Recycling Coordinator and Energy Conservation Manager.
Ms. Haight serves as the MSU region’s Personal Responsibility in a Desirable Environment (PRIDE) Coordinator. She trains volunteers, and participates as a volunteer, for Licking River Watershed Watch, and the Rowan County Recycling Center. She was recently recognized for her years of service to the area helping with recycling and solid waste, and among her numerous service awards is the most recent recipient of MSU’s Distinguished Service Award.
April brings a diverse background to the Environmental Education Center. She is an MSU alumni with a B.S. in Environmental Science, M.S. in Biology with emphasis on wetland ecology, and an MBA. Haight is an active member of the North American Association of Environmental Educators, Association of Energy Engineers, and Women in Energy and Environmental Leadership. She has conducted a number of workshops, presented at conferences, published scholarly articles, and brought hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to MSU.
